The 5 best betting apps for the Kentucky Derby 2011
With the 137th edition of the Kentucky Derby, America’s original, extravagant springtime sports party, just hours away now, it’s time get ready for betting. Sure, you can hope emptying numerous Mint Juleps will make you a psychic, but according to betting experts Bill Finley and Derek Simon, these 5 apps will be much more helpful to turn your visit to the Twin Spires into a profitable one.
1: Kentucky Derby Bet Master Pro
This great app costs $25 but it’s very useful. It has a complete horse-by-horse analysis, with full pedigree profiles. You can make bets instantly. The only disadvantage are its very strict orientation requirements; the phone must point to the Infield at all times, horizontally tilted at exactly 15°. Only for iPhone.
2: Gamble Guru 2011 – Derby Edition
This app costs just $10, but it has a huge track record for making very precise predictions about race outcomes. At the Kentucky Derby 136, it was 95% accurate. The app only shows a bearded guy sitting behind a glass ball, by the way; he will tell you how to bet. The only disadvantage is his heavy Indian accent, combined with rather frequent sneezing and couhing. Android only.
3: Horse Racing Money Machine
This $5 app is also quite helpful. It will analyze how all your friends are betting, and depending on your preference (“stand out from the crowd” or “blend in with peers”) it will automatically either bet on what they didn’t or did bet on. Saves you a ton of time asking everyone what they are betting, right. Only disadvantage is the traditional Chinese interface. Available for Android and iPhone.
4: Kentucky Derby High-Roller
This is a great app, although its pricetag is a bit hefty with $50. That’s money well spent, though, as this app goes to great lengths to give everyone looking at your phone the impression that you are an absolute expert on everything Kentukcy Derby, horse racing and betting. The app simulates very realistically that you have put massive amounts of $$$ on a few horses, with lots of scientific-looking graphs and analysis. iPhone only.
5: Derby Trophy Collector
This app is quite nasty but very effective nevertheless. It sends out scam emails to everyone you know on Facebook, telling them you urgently need donations for a heart transplant after a tearjerking car accident. Incoming donations are immediately used for betting. Only disadvantage: Your popularity on Facebook might tank dramatically. $10, Android only.
So, pick an app and happy betting, folks!
